I know that more information will become available as time passes, but let me share what I’ve found out with you guys, because network news idiots don’t share a thing:

Shooter is an asian male, showed up at his girlfriend’s dorm (it was co-ed) and shot her to death. He wound up shooting the RA as well when he or she attempted to investigate the gunshots. Two hours elapse where the campus is NOT locked down and authorities attempt to search for the gunman. Well gunman appears at an engineering building looking for his (now dead) girlfriend’s new lover, chains the doors shut, and proceeds to go classroom by classroom wearing a bulletproof vest and wielding 2 9-MM pistols opening fire on students and faculty alike. The current count is 32 dead, 29 wounded and the gunman dead to an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

***** my room mate just got back and he told us his story. he was in norris hall and heard the gunshots comign from down the hall. while others hid in the class room ***** got a few others to help him baracade the door with desks. He could hear the gunman coming down the hall opening doors n firing into class rooms. ***** then saw his door handle turn and the gun man tried to get in ***** and the others slammed the door back shut and got on the ground holding the door shut with desks. ***** then said he heard the the gunman reload and fired two shots directly through the door luckily didnt hit anybody then the gunman left

Okay, I’m on campus: here’s an update
7:15, a shooting at West AJ (a co ed dorm) over a relationship (boyfriend and girlfriend problems). The shooter shot the girlfriend, and then shot the RA on the floor.
9:45 roughly, the next shooting occurred. One man shot over 50 people, 32 which are now confirmed dead. I was stuck inside McBryde, the building adjacent to Norris hall where the shooting was. I watched as lifeless bodies were carried out of Norris, and other who were shot in arms, legs, and chest were evacuated.
This is all hell serious. However, it is not known if the shooter is a student here at Tech…
But yeah, that’s about all I know… I’m not leaving this dorm until they tell me it’s safe, and a little more than that.
I’m scared shitless… I’ve never seen something so scary in my life.

EDIT: Some new information that has been well reported. When I posted the information above, it was approximately 5 or 6 hours after the events occurred. It appears that during the 2 hours between shootings, the gunman was in his dorm room preparing a “manifesto” to send to NBC news in New York. Also, the bulletproof vest may have been mistaken for a ammo-vest/bandoleer type instrument designed to hold many fully loaded magazines of ammunition. Considering that VT was a “gun-free” campus, it’s a safe assumption that the gunman didn’t expect to be met with armed resistance during his rampage, which lends credence that the eyewitness reports mistook the ammo vest for a bulletproof one.
